Asia – South America – Oceania – North America – Africa

This suite, rich in contrasts, was written on behalf of the Flanders Recorder Quartet and presents the continents musically in six short movements in which a wide variety of sound effects and techniques are used. In "Africa" each performer is required to sing and to make use of "body percussion" while in "Oceania" the sound of digeridoos and in "South America" pan flutes are imitated. "North America" in parts reminds of jazz while "Europe" falls back to the baroque sonata and "Asia" sounds mysteriously.
The complete range of the recorder family is richly presented and makes this suite very attractive especially for advanced recorder players.

Die kontrastreiche Suite "I Continenti" wurde im Auftrag des Flanders Recorder Quartets geschrieben und stellt die Kontinente in sechs kurzen Teilen musikalisch dar. Dabei kommen die unterschiedlichsten Klangeffekte und Spielweisen zum Einsatz. In "Afrika" wird z.B. auch gesungen und der Körper als Schlagzeug benutzt, während in "Ozeanien" der Klang von Didgeridoos, in "Südamerika" Panflöten imitiert werden. "Nordamerika" erinnert an einigen Stellen an Jazzmusik, während "Europa" auf die barocke Sonate zurückgreift und "Asien" eher geheimnisvoll klingt.
Die farbenreiche Klangpalette der gesamten Blockflötenfamilie kommt in vollem Umfang zum Tragen und macht diese Suite besonders für fortgeschrittene Blockflötenensembles attraktiv.
